Young Urbanites in Eastern Europe: A dialogue between research and practice

Round table discussion, 27th of February, 6-8pm, Georg-Simmel-Centre for Metropolitan Studies, room 415

What is the everyday life of young people in (post) industrial cities in Eastern Europe and Eurasia? What are the key challenges they face and how are they addressed locally?
This public event brings together researchers and civil society actors from the East and West of the Urals to engage with these questions.
Together, we discuss how a city would look like in which young urbanites can realize their desires and needs for livelihood. And how academia and civil society can contribute to it.

Our guests are Dr. Lela Rekhviashvili, Leibniz-Institut für Länderkunde, Leipzig, Anna Schwenck, Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, as well as Elena Korkina, NGO Center for Social Research and Education, Irkutsk and Daria Matveenkova, NGO Nature and Youth, Murmansk.

The event will be held in English.

Organized by the Center for Independent Social Research e.V. & the Urban Research Group “Global Urban Youth” of the Georg-Simmel Centre for Metropolitan Studies and supported by the German Foreign Office.
